Today seemed like just another ordinary day out in New Orleans. SEEMED being the key word. As the Saints prepared for their
upcoming battle with the also undefeated New York Jets on Sunday, something happened that made Saints supporters and Brees fantasy owners everywhere grasp their collective breaths. The franchise leader, potential record-breaking quarterback, Drew Brees, injured his right shoulder during workout drills.
As Brees fired a pass to speedster Devery Henderson, Brees’ shoulder popped out, and Brees hit the ground in an instant. Brees was wincing in pain, and he had no control of his right arm, as he lied on the ground in obvious pain and agony.
Trainers rushed to his side and asked him a bunch of questions regarding what it felt like.
Brees said that everything felt numb, and there was no feeling in his right arm. He added that the initial pain in the shoulder felt like “his arm had been attached to a truck and yanked out of place.”
Those are words that you never want to hear from anybody on your team, especially the heart and soul leader of your franchise.
The Saints are 3-0 right now, and they can definitely not have something like this happen if they want to make the most out of this potentially special season.
Trainers are going to keep a close eye on the situation, but the first word on the injury is that he will likely miss the rest of the season. This was the shoulder that he had issues with a few years ago, and doctors think that this can only make the healing time a little bit longer and harder to come back from. If that is indeed the case, that would truly be a shame for a team that always seems to go through tough times.
Oh, by the way, HAPPY OCTOBER FOOLS.
