Whatever the problem is for the Washington Redskins right now, something needs to be done about it. The Redskins came into the
season hoping to finally see an improvement because of their offseason moves, but as it seems like every other year, it just doesn’t matter. No matter how much the Redskins are supposed to improve every season because of big changes that they make in the offseason, they always seem to fall short of expectations.
This season they added Albert Haynesworth from the Titans and Brian Orakpo through the draft, but neither has done quite enough to fix this team completely.
After 6 games this season, the Redskins have posted a record of 2-4. What is even worse about that record is that they have played a winless team in every single game. So not only do they play in one of the most competitive divisions in football, but they are losing to teams that are supposed to be freebies.
One thing that stands out to me about this team is that all of their games were decided by 8 points or less. What this means is that they are hanging tough in all of their games, but they do not have the leadership to pull it out in the big spots. Their offense is clearly a concern, as their quarterback Jason Campbell is obviously behind schedule as to where they would like him to be at this point in his career. He has shown flashes of ability over his short career, but he has not put it together on a consistent basis.
If they could just figure out a way to move the ball effectively on offense, this team could get out of their rut more quickly than most people realize. When you have a defense that is sufficient enough as theirs is, you will win your share of games. However, if your offense plays as poorly as they have, they will be on the wrong side of way too many close games.
Following the loss to Chiefs, the Redskins have decided to relieve Jim Zorn of his offensive play-calling duties. They feel that he has too many responsibilities on the team, and it is definitely hurting their offensive production. The Redskins have replaced him with Sherman Lewis.
