For those of you who haven’t yet heard, Bobby Jackson of the Sacramento Kings has officially announced his retirement from the
NBA after 12 seasons. Although Jackson was never the biggest star in the NBA, he was always one of my favorites.
When Jackson was in college, playing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, I took notice of the high-energy guard. After watching just one of his games, Jackson instantly became a guy that I loved to root for. Ever since I watched him play for that first time, I have always followed his career. He wasn’t someone that I would watch or read about everyday, but rather he was the kind of player that I would check on every now and then to see how he was doing. After all, I thought he was extremely talented, and I had to see if my judgment was correct!
The season he won the NBA’s Sixth Man Award, I was so happy for him. He had always been a hard worker, and it was great to see that the league could appreciate his abilities like I did.
He had a lot of productive seasons in the NBA, and I can’t believe that it has already been 12! I feel like it was just yesterday that I was rooting for the college guard from Minnesota.
Now, 13 years after watching him play for the first time, Bobby Jackson has finished his NBA career, and another page has turned in his life as well as mine.
Where have the years gone?
