Ahhh….Finally! After the series extended because of a game 5 victory by the Angels, and the series was postponed due to rain on Saturday night, the Yankees finally secured their spot in the World Series against the Phillies.
This was what everybody had in mind when the season first began, and what everybody had expected once the Yankees started getting hot and almost unbeatable.
This season wasn’t all fun and games for the Yankees, of course. They stumbled out of the gate, while A-Rod was on the shelf for a month, and they started 0-11 against teams in the Sox category. Pitching was shaky for a while, and the bullpen was still undecided when the regular season was complete.
But once the playoffs rolled around, the Yankees seemed to get better. The plowed through the Twins, and although they had a little scare from the Angels, they prevailed with clutch hitting by A-Rod and solid pitching by CC and company.
Now, all that lies between the Yankees and their 27th World Series Championship is the defending champions from Philly. It should be a wonderful series, as both teams boast very tough pitching staffs, and have great lineups. It should be one of the better World Series in a while, and the entire baseball world, outside of the Mets’ fans, is in for an exciting series.
Let the games begin!
