If you are a fan of the NBA or sports in general, you are probably aware of the fact that Ron Artest is very unique. One way that Artest has always stuck out was with his choice of jersey numbers. Over his 10-year NBA career, Artest has worn 5 different numbers, and each one was chosen for a specific reason.
This season, after being traded to the Lakers, Ron Artest is donning number 37. Why? In honor of the late Michael Jackson. The number 37 represents the number of weeks that Jackson’s album, ”Thriller,” remained number one on the charts.
Yes, at times Artest is considered a nuisance and a distraction, but doing something like this shows a nice side from this misunderstood guy. To me, it shows that even the ”baddest” of guys have a soft side, and it is refreshing to see Artest display it.
Also, if you are really trying to understand who Artest is as a person, you should listen to his music. He raps under the name, ”Tru Warier.” By listening to his music, you can get a true grip on what Ron is really like behind that mask that he puts up as NBA player. Everybody has a story to tell, Ron’s is just a little more uncovnetional than most.

Ron Artest is indeed unique. I am not a Lakers fan but I am a Michael fan and last night I got to see This Is It. Did you get to see the movie? I saw it and the movie was awesome. Awesome!
I’m hoping for a tribute album too. He’s made too many songs for there not to be one. I even sent Sony a list of whom I think should appear on the album and who should sing what. Let me know what you think. Thanks. http://morningerection.wordpress.com/2009/10/03/michael-jackson-tribute-album/
