It’s about time! Jeff Fisher has finally decided to start Vince Young following his team’s bye week. I was a supporter of Vince Young from before the season started, and I felt that it was not right that he never got the opportunity to win his job back after his injury two years ago.
The Titans are 0-6 right now, and a change is unquestionably in order. If they keep things the way that they were, they will continue on that same path. By changing quarterbacks, you are giving your team a chance for altered results and the possibility of a decent remainder of the season.
Also, by getting Young some game action, you are improving this team’s future. There is no doubt that Young entered the league with talent, as he was able to lead his team to the playoffs in his rookie season. However, like anybody, if you stop playing, your game is going to get stale and suffer. If you want to improve and get better going forward, you need to put on your helmet and start playing. This is a step in the right direction for Young and his maturation process, and I do not question that it will help the Titans in the long run.
Other than his athletic talent and ability, Vince Young possesses something that is necessary for successful quarterbacks: A winning mentality. Because Young is a proven winner, he knows how to get his team wins. He will do anything in his power to get the best production out of his team, and if that means that he will throw the ball very few times, he will be willing to do that.
Oh, and don’t be surprised if Tennessee beats Jacksonville this weekend. Young will give this team some energy, and he will make up for his lack of playing time with his savvy and vast knowledge of the game. This guy needs to be on the field, and he will prove it against the Jags with a victory.
