Most Impressive Win – Carolina Panthers – Coming off of a loss to Buffalo, the Panthers looked like they had hit rock bottom. Heading into Arizona looked like a sure loss, especially after the Cards’ latest win in the Meadowlands against the Giants. That was not the case, though. Instead, the Panthers controlled the game against Warner and the Cards as they caused 6 turnovers on their way to an easy 34-21 victory. The running game led the way with 245 yards between DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Are the Panthers back to last season’s form?
Best Overall Performance (Team) – Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles dominated the Giants on both sides of the ball. McNabb threw for 3 touchdowns, and McCoy and Weaver each ran the ball with ease. Defensively, the Eagles picked off Manning twice, leading the way to a 40-17 blowout. This was an encouraging victory that should have the Eagles ready for their big matchup against Dallas.
Best Overall Performance (Player) – Brett Favre – In his highly anticipated return to Lambeau, Brett Favre put on a show for the Green Bay fans for one more time. Favre threw for 244 yards and 4 touchdowns in the place he once called home, and he proved once more that you should never bet against Brett.
Breakout Performer – Spencer Havner – After scoring his first career touchdown last week, Havner doubled his effort this week with 2. Even though Havner only had 2 catches, he has shown that he has a nose for the endzone, and Aaron Rodgers is getting comfortable throwing the ball in his direction near the goal line.
Most Impressive Win – Baltimore Ravens – Coming off of a 3-game losing streak, the Ravens showed that they are still a team to be feared. Beating the previously undefeated Broncos is a step in the right direction for this team, and it could be a turning point in this team’s season. Not only did they beat the Broncos, but they did something that no team had done before, when they scored multiple times against Denver in the second half.
Best Overall Performance (Team) – Baltimore Ravens – Not only did the Ravens have an impressive win, but they outperformed the Broncos better than any other AFC team outperformed its opponent on Sunday. They dominated every facet of the game, and they never gave Denver a chance to win the game. They had no turnovers, scored on special teams, and became the first team to run for over 100 yards against the Broncos this season. A job well done by the Ravens for sure.
Best Overall Performance (Player) – Chris Johnson – CJ had 228 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns against the Jags. Included in the 228 yards were a 52-yard touchdown and an 89-yard touchdown. The 228 yards rushing by Johnson is the Titans’ franchise record. This was Johnson’s second game this season in which he had over 196 yards rushing.
Breakout Peformer – Ryan Moats – With Steve Slaton benched, Ryan Moats filled in wonderfully, as he ran for 126 yards and added a whopping 3 TDs. All of Moats’ scores came in the 4th quarter where the Texans overcame a one point deficit and won by 21. This was Moats’ first 100 yard performance since the 2005 season.
