Pujols All Alone At the Top

In the latest NL MVP voting, Albert Pujols received all 32 first place votes. In other words, Albert Pujols was the first unanimous choice to win the NL MVP since Barry Bonds in 2002. If you remember, Barry Bonds owned the MLB in 2002, as he reached base almost every time he came to bat. Pujols is as close to that now, as anyone else in the league. Pujols’ proficiency in the game of baseball is better than anybody right now by leaps and bounds, and there is no player close to him. For him to receive all 32 first place votes, it shows that he is by far the best in the NL, and he is truly in a league of his own. What is even more impressive about Pujols’ unanimous choice was the fact that he did not hit a home run in his last 89 regular season at bats. What that means, is that Pujols had to be THAT much better before then to really earn the award. The 2009 award is Pujols’ second in a row and third overall, tying him with Alex Rodriguez for the most among active players.

Below is a picture of Albert Pujols on the top of a mountain all alone. This, of course, is just a representation of how Pujols is way above everybody else in the NL. He is so good that Hanley Ramirez (2nd place in NL MVP voting), Ryan Howard (3rd place…), and Prince Fielder (4th place…) are nowhere to be found in this picture.
