If you were not aware yet, Greg Oden has an addiction to injury. The former number one overall draft pick out of Ohio State has now suffered his second season-ending injury before the mid-way point in the season in 3 years. That does not include his shortened 08-09 season, where he missed 20 games and only started 39.
Oden’s proclivity for serious injuries can only make the Blazers’ organization regret choosing the big man over the lanky 6”9 scoring machine known as Kevin Durant. The two players will always be linked because of their draft positions, and right now it looks like number two pick is clearly the better selection. As Durant is establishing himself as one of the best young players in the NBA, Oden’s behind is getting a little too comfortable with the pine.
There is no telling what these injuries will do to Oden, and you would have to believe that it would be a miracle if Oden can ever be a decent player in this league; let alone a healthy player through one entire season. Every time Oden gets injured, it’s a longer and harder process to achieving his full potential, which is constantly decreasing.
Well at least Blazers fans are immuned to this sort of thing. Remember S*m B*wie? I am sure Durant would not mind taking the place of MJ.
It’s just sad to see that Oden is the now the new face for handicaps, instead of being the new face for the future NBA stars.
