If the New York Jets want their slim playoff chances to remain, they will have to defeat the undefeated Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. This could be a tall order, but there is no telling how long the Colts will play their starters, as they have already clinched the number one seed in the AFC.
Jets’ Head Coach, Rex Ryan, was humorously sarcastic and hopeful during his press conference on Wednesday when he said the following statement:
“We’re going to start with the injury report, obviously. Manning, Clark, Addai, Reggie Wayne, Freeney, Mathis, Brackett — all those guys will not play.”
Following the statement, Ryan had a huge smile across his face. Then he explained that, that was his wish list for Santa. This induced yet another smile from the Jets’ Head Coach, and a ton of laughter from the reporters covering the press conference.
Although Ryan chose to be funny about the situation to the media, it does not mean that he is going to take it lightly with his players behind closed doors. There is no question that Ryan is going to work his team to the bone to have him prepared for the game, and he will do everything in his power to help his team towards a victory. Whether that is possible or not, is yet to be determined.
Now all that Ryan can do is continue hoping that Santa delivers for him this year.
Below is a picture of Jim Caldwell dressed up as Santa. Why? Because Caldwell seems like the only person that can truly deliver Rex Ryan’s wishes by benching his starters on Sunday. Of course, unless the real Santa has something miraculous up his sleeve.
