Jason Bay Says Mets Overpaid for Him

After a lot of complaining by the fans of the New York Mets about their team’s lack of activity this offseason, the Amazin’s finally pulled the trigger on a big name player. That player, of course, is Jason Bay, who played for the Boston Red Sox last season. In 2009 with the Sox, Bay batted .267, hit 36 home runs, drove in 119 RBIs, and had a slugging percentage of .537. All of those numbers impressed the Mets so much that they were willing to sign the outfielder for $66 million over 4 years; a relatively healthy contract.

When asked by a local reporter what he thought about coming to the Mets, Bay said,

“Hopefully the injury bug from last season has left them. I mean, the entire team seemed to fall victim to some sort of injury at some point last year. Based on my estimations, this is the best time to come to the Mets, as their luck is bound to take a turn in the right direction. Hey, maybe signing me WAS the first step in that right direction.”

When asked about his contract, Bay said,

“Yeah, I definitely got the better end of that deal. Yes the Mets are getting a good outfielder, but I just feel like I am getting so much more. Plus, if this team really wants to use their money to help them win a World Series, they need to get a pitcher. An outfielder like myself is important, it just isn’t worth $66 million. Sorry Mets, but you overpaid.”

From what he said to the reporter in his two statements, Jason Bay is clearly a guy with a lot of confidence. He realizes that he is the one with the leverage in this situation, and he is not afraid to say it. As long as his bat is as big as his mouth this season, the Mets will not care if they overpaid for Bay. In fact, they might begin to feel like they got the steal if that happens.

Below is a picture of Jason Bay as a thief. According to Bay, he is stealing money from the Mets that might affect their chances to win a World Series. I don’t know about you, but if I were a Mets fan, I would not be too encouraged by a guy like this. (He looks like a skinnier version of Mike Francessa in this picture. Don’t you think?)

  1. did he really say that? wow, as a met fan, I don’t know how to take that. Shouldnt he be saying that he will make himself worth the money or something, i dont get his motive in saying that.

  2. can you tell everyone more about bay
