Players Interviewing Players… Genius!

In an attempt to make the Super Bowl coverage the best it has ever been, the NFL has decided to employ 4 of their own players to become a part of the media. Chad Ochocinco, Chris Cooley, Ray Rice, and Darnell Dockett, are all going to do their best interviewing skills for “OCNN” (Ochocinco News Network) with players, coaches, and anybody else who is a part of football’s biggest game.

The reason why this is a wonderful idea, in my opinion, is because when players interview other players, you will hear unique questions and unique answers that wouldn’t be heard when a regular reporter is doing the work. Even though it seems like reporters know the NFL life as well as the players themselves, that is not entirely true. There are aspects of an NFL player’s life that the media is not exposed to, that somebody like Chad Ochocinco is. With that being the case, interviews will be more interesting as they will be from a whole new perspective.

“That’s what everybody wants to hear,” Ochocinco said. “They want to hear the players’ perspective. They don’t want to hear what the other [media] outlets say about what they feel is going on. People want to hear what the players feel about the events, the whole nine yards.”

Chad, I couldn’t have said it better myself. The whole point of reporting is to get the closest connection to the players as possible. Who better to do something like that, than the actual players themselves?

To me, this is one of the best ideas that the NFL has had in a long time, and I am certain that it will be a complete success. How can it not be? Now, how about changing those overtime rules, Mr. Goodell?
