With all of the Super Bowl hype taking centerstage in the NFL world right now, the common football fan is not thinking about Matt Stafford and the health of his knee (sorry Lions fans, but it’s the truth). However, just because the Super Bowl is shortly upon us, it doesn’t mean that the rest of the world just stops… even if it does appear that way.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Stafford’s right knee is doing just fine. Stafford has been rehabbing in his hometown of Dallas with the same doctor who scoped his left knee in high school. Hold up! Here’s where this post is going to take a turn.
Matt Stafford is in the NFL, where he has access to the top sports doctors, and he chooses to rehab with his high school doctor?!? Something just doesn’t seem right to me. Of course, whenever that’s the case, an interview is in order.
So, I did my best Doctor Van Nostrand impersonation (for all you Seinfeld fans), and I weasled my way through a bunch of security, until I got to come face-to-face with Matt Stafford himself. I asked him about his high school doctor, and why he felt the need to choose him now that he is in the NFL. This is what he said:
“Even though I have access to better doctors, nobody knows my body like my high school doctor. Other than treating my knee, he knows what my favorite foods are, and he gives me the best spine-tingling massages known to man. And if that’s not enough, he knows all my favorite TV shows and movies. If that isn’t great treatment, I don’t know what is.”
Aha! I knew I had been right all along. Stafford’s choice for his high school doctor had nothing to do with his expertise. Rather, Matt Stafford chose this doctor because he has a man-crush on him!

I think you are cutting edge on this angle…
Thanks a lot. I try to be different for entertainment purposes.
