Towards the tail-end of his career, Eddie George played for the Dallas Cowboys… sparingly, that is. One other player on Dallas who did not get to play too much was Tony Romo. At the time, Romo was in his second year in the league, and he was still trying to figure out defenses from the sidelines. But Eddie George saw something he liked about the second year QB, and he believed he had potential.
“You know what, I kind of did because Tony is the type of quarterback who would read these books by guys like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods,” George said. “Stuff like “What it takes to be a champion.”
Based on George’s way of thinking, the kinds of books a person reads, can have a profound effect on the way they perform their daily activities. And that is something that I do agree with. Apparently, though, always-injured Greg Oden hasn’t received the memo.
The last time I checked, he was still reading books by Sam Bowie and Jay Williams (Bulls). I think it’s time to start reading books by Ripken and Favre.
