Who ever said that age slows you down? Well, whoever it was, Darrell Green, the former Washington Redskins player and Hall of Famer, does not care. Yesterday, Darrell Green turned 50 years old. So how did the retired 50 year-old celebrate his birthday? Of course! By running a 40-yard dash (duh!).
So how did he do?
It turns out that the 4-time winner of the NFL’s Fastest Man competition still has it, as he ran an incredible 4.43. It’s crazy to think about it really. When I looked at some of the top running backs entering the NFL Draft in a couple of months, most of them ran a slower 40 time than Green did yesterday. And these guys are supposed to be in the prime of their careers!
After seeing that, I had a whole new appreciation for Darrell Green. He truly is one of the greatest of all-time, and I wouldn’t doubt that he could still play today if given the opportunity.
