If you missed last night’s game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Denver Nuggets, I feel very sorry for you. This game was exactly what the NBA is all about, as there was non-stop action between two of the league’s best teams and two of the league’s best players.
Not only was the game unbelievable because it was an overtime thriller, in which the Nuggets won by 2 points, but LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony each had fantastic stat-lines.
LeBron, in the losing effort, had a triple-double, as he scored 43 points, dished out 15 dimes, and grabbed 13 boards. James added an impressive 4 blocked shots as well. Carmelo, on the hand, put up 40 points, dispensed 7 assists, and gobbled up 6 rebounds. Not to mention, he hit the game-winning jumper in overtime right in LBJ’s grill.
When you compare the numbers between James and Anthony, one might be so impressed with James’ numbers that Anthony’s numbers fall to the wayside a little bit. But if you just look at Anthony’s numbers on their own, and you realize that he had 40 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds, you would say that he had an all-time great performance. For Anthony’s amazing numbers to play second-fiddle to anybody in the same game is truly mind-boggling, and it definitely gives credence to the epic battle that took place between him and LeBron.
Now all we can hope for is a rematch in the NBA Finals, so that these guys can battle for a possible 7 straight games.
