Brian Westbrook Released By The Eagles

After dealing with the uncertainty that was Brian Westbrook on my fantasy football team this past season, let me be the first to tell you, “This guy was not the same running back that he was from season’s past.”

Of course, if I realized the decline of B-West, it is obvious that the Philadelphia Eagles could sense the same thing. Because of this noticeable decline, which was heavily due to a slew of injuries, the Philadelphia Eagles just released Brian Westbrook after 8 seasons of duty.

Over the course of his 8-year career, Westbrook has put up 5,995 rushing yards (37 touchdowns) and 3,790 receiving yards (29 TDs). Considering the numbers, Westbrook doesn’t look like such a great back, but if you watched him play over the seasons, you know that he was one of the better running backs in the league during his prime because of his shiftiness and versatility.

I would be pretty surprised if some team doesn’t pick him up eventually. He is only 30 years old, and I believe he still has some juice left in his tank. Even if that juice is slightly past its expiration date.
