A fan saves Clyde the embarrassment of watching the Knicks.
If anybody attended Legends Night at Madison Square Garden last night, I am sorry for your terrible misfortune. No, I am not referring to the halftime ceremony that headlined the Knicks-Bucks game, but rather, I am referring to the play of the hometown New York Knicks, following that halftime magic (or should I say ‘kibash’).
Normal teams have their spirits uplifted by a halftime show that honors the greats of years past, but the Knicks are not a normal team. In fact, the Knicks were so ‘inspired’ by the likes of Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, and Bill Bradley, that they decided to score 26 points… in the SECOND HALF. And it wasn’t like they were playing the Cavs or the Lakers either; they were playing the 26-28 Milwaukee Bucks.
Just as an indication of how bad things were for the Knicks, their leading scorer was Tracy McGrady, who scored 15 points on 5-14 shooting, while injuring his knee in the process.
On the other hand, Andrew Bogut, who has been referred to as a ‘poor man’s Tim Duncan‘ stole the spotlight, as he had 24 points and 20 rebounds for the Bucks, as they cruised to an 83-67 victory.
Following the game, a Knicks’ fan had this to say:
“It was a complete embarrassment. I was very excited to see the Knicks play inspired ball for the first time in a long time, and of course, as always, they let me down. It’s no wonder the tickets were so cheap. I thought I was getting a bargain with these tickets on Legends Night. I guess the joke was on me.”
I can’t say that I blame him. I mean, seriously, can you not perform for just one night! It’s Legends Night for crying out loud! Do it in style!
