Lee Westwood has admitted that he would love the chance to captain the European Ryder Cup team one day.
Online betting pundits note that the Englishman is currently the highest ranked European golfer as he sits at No.3 in the rankings. This means he will be heavily involved in this year’s Ryder Cup as Europe take on USA one again.
While remaining fully focused on this task, Westwood is looking further ahead in his career and has stated his ambitions to follow in current captain Colin Montgomerie’s footsteps.
He said: “I’d love to be captain one day. It’s a massive honour and very few people get to do it. Hopefully I’ll get the chance,”
“I’ve got a lot of experience playing in the Ryder Cup and a lot of experience of different captains and the way they’ve all done it and I should be able to look back and know what to do and what not to do.”
Despite this aim, he does admit that it is “quite a long way down the road” and that for now he is very focused on playing at his very best to help the European team as they look to lead the way in Ryder Cup betting at Celtic Manor later this year.
