Even though all gridiron fans love to see a big hit, more often than not responding to a hit that knocks a helmet off a player’s head with are sounding cheer, some of the major players in the NFL are beginning to suggest that something must be done to ensure a substantial reduction in the amount of hits that end up leaving football players competing on the field without a helmet whilst a play is still in action.
Those who bet on super bowl matches know that big name players may well be earning a small fortune as they enjoy the fame and fortune that comes with an NFL career and a lucrative contract, but the fact remains that one big hit can represent the end of a football career, and with it the start of a lifetime that leaves players with huge medical bills unable to undertake regular work. As a result, it is clear that all football players are going to want to make sure that they arenot exposed to an unacceptable level of risk whilst they are doing their work, even if to fans it might not seem like a job!
With defensemen clearly not wanting to back down and back off in terms of the level of hits they are dealing out, and offensive players unlikely to want to appear vulnerable to big hits by denouncing defenders who are regularly called up for unnecessary roughing, it is up to either referees to call more big hits as fouls, or up to sports companies to make sure that the level of helmets they are providing are up to the standard that is required.
The only hope according to those looking at the super bowl odds regularly is that one of these scenarios happens before a player becomes the focus of the sporting headlines after seeing their career end through ahorrific injury.
